This PDW focuses on helping scholars develop the skills needed to become a respected reviewer for top-tier management journals in general, and for Academy of Management Discoveries (AMD) in particular. AMD editors will provide hands-on tips on how referees can become more developmental when reviewing others' scholarly work while at the same time preserving the author's voice. Focus will be placed on how to evaluate and help authors develop all aspects of discovery-oriented management research--from the explication of the research question, conceptualization of the key constructs, review of prior research and framing of underlying hunches, to the assessment of methodological rigor, interpretation of study results and specification of the study's implications for further theory development. Following a panel discussion, participants will have the opportunity to meet in small groups with AMD Associate Editors to practice their reviewing skills on actual papers submitted to AMD. All are welcome to attend. |
