This PDW is focused on helping researchers develop and expand their skills for qualitative data analysis through interaction with experienced scholars. It will help researchers identify ways to improve their analytical strategies when working with qualitative data sets and enhance their ability to develop high quality publishable research articles from qualitative data. The PDW is relevant to both junior and more experienced scholars. On the one hand, the workshop will help doctoral students and junior scholars with limited experience with qualitative data analysis gain insights into the practicalities of qualitative coding and analysis that is hard to extract from published research articles or the extant methodological literature. On the other hand, the workshop provides an opportunity for experienced scholars to share and discuss practical issues that arise when conducting qualitative research projects. Types of coding and analysis approaches covered: grounded theory approaches, analyzing process data, QCA, discourse analysis, analyzing video, using coding software (nVivo, QDA Miner, etc.), coding and analyzing ethnographic field notes. |
Pre-registration is required for this workshop. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. Please contact the workshop organizer at asmith51@utk.edu to obtain the approval code. The deadline to register online is August 1, 2016. |
