Publications in top-tier journals are an important means by which our work is improved (through the review process) and disseminated to our colleagues in order to eventually become a part of the ongoing academic “conversations”. Naturally, publications in top journals are important for tenure and promotion processes, too. While many scholars are familiar with US-based top-tier journals and consider them as a primary outlet, non-US- based management journals have risen considerably in the academic rankings and have developed a reputation of excellence. Thereby they have evolved to an outlet equally attractive for rigorous and impactful research. At the same time, non-US journals differ from US-journals in subtle but important ways. Awareness of these differences is vitally important to scholars who consider these non-US journals as a potential outlet for their work. The goal of this PDW is therefore to share information and have a discussion regarding publishing in top non-US management journals. We bring together a panel of senior editorial board members of six top non-US journals (e.g., Journal of Management Studies and Organization Studies), who will introduce their journals’ editorial policies, and highlight differences from leading US-based journals. This session will combine individual presentations by panelists, small group roundtable discussions, and a large group Q&A session.
