This PDW will serve as a consoritum for doctoral students and early career scholars interested in the use of historical sources and methods in management and organizational research. It will cover three main topics. First, it will discuss the nature of historical research and reasoning and it’s application to management research and theory. Second, it will cover the variety of ways in which historical approaches are being applied in various domains of management research, including in strategy, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and international business. Finally, it will introduce the use of historical sources and methods in management research. Participants will come away with an introduction to management history and it’s value as an approach to management research. |
