This 2-1/2-hour PDW focuses on designing and conducting experiments that can advance academic knowledge on entrepreneurship and related topics. It fosters the actual use of experimental methods by entrepreneurship, innovation and managerial sciences scholars. 1. Part I consists of a panel discussion made up of the organizers open to everyone interested in learning about how to apply experimental methods in their own research. 2. Part II is a a hands-on workshop where pre- registered participants with concrete ideas for experimental design discuss selected challenges they face together with expert facilitators who have published experiments in entrepreneurship. The focus will be on engagement with those interested in doing entrepreneurship research experiments, as well as on establishing and jointly discussing best practices in conducting such experiments, thereby facilitating the further development and growth of a research community of individuals conducting experiments in entrepreneurship. Part I of this PDW will be a panel focused on the community-building purpose of the session and on addressing general questions related to selecting, designing, conducting, evaluating, and publishing experiments in entrepreneurship research. Part II involves round-table discussions require pre-registration of participants who submit challenges/designs ahead of the session, and will focus on thematically addressing these. The specific topics in Part II will depend on the challenges submitted. In the appendix, we offer a representative set of table topics based on our experiences from prior PDWs. At the end of Part II, the panel will extract the core learnings from each round-table and abstract them into broader best practices. |
