This session aims to raise awareness of importance of student mental wellbeing and resilience for learning. It also aims to encourage educators to consider ways of building resilience into curriculum for improving student mental health and thereby enhancing learning. The content will cover reflective group exercises, followed by brief interactive presentations and introduction of various pedagogical tools (e.g., assessment and online curriculum design) from Adam Smith Business School faculty members on resilience building at different levels of learning and teaching. The proposed session fits well with the Academy’s 2018 Improving Lives theme and the key question of organisations’ contribution to betterment of society through elevating the health and wellbeing of those who live in it. Considering the universities’ duty of care to respect and maintain the welfare of students, it is only fair that we start reflecting on and questioning our contribution, as educators, to the betterment of our students’ wellbeing.
This session is part of the Teaching and Learning Conference. A registration fee of USD$130 is required at https://aom.link/RegisterforAOM2018. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to register is August 12, unless sold out.
