The presence of personal technology in the classroom (e.g. smartphones and laptops) can either enable or hinder teaching effectiveness. It can enable teaching to the extent that instructors are able to incorporate technology tools in their teaching (e.g. websites, mobile apps, or online gaming). On the other hand, the very same technology can hinder learning as it can be a source of distraction to the students. In this participant- focused PDW, first we will seek inputs from participants in advance of the PDW regarding the activities and strategies they have successfully used to either incorporate technology in teaching HRM topics or to minimize its intrusion in learning. Next, we will have them share these strategies in their groups during the PDW. We will store all contributions in a Dropbox folder for access by the PDW participants afterwards. Our expectation is to have each PDW participant leave the PDW with at least one new idea to manage their teaching.
