This half-day PDW will provide advice to junior faculty and doctoral students on how to frame a strategic management paper so that it resonates with its intended audience, and clearly and succinctly communicates the motivation, goals, methods, and contributions of the paper. The emphasis of this PDW on framing a research paper is intended to supplement paper development workshops and doctoral and junior faculty consortia, by focusing on an important but challenging aspect of publishing research. During the PDW, senior editors with experience at a broad range of journals that publish strategic management research will provide advice on techniques for framing research papers. The PDW will be organized into two parts. The first half of the PDW will employ a unique panel format consisting of mini- dialogues between pairs of editors who will discuss successful approaches to, as well as pitfalls in, framing different types of papers in strategic management. The participants will also submit paper proposals ahead of time. During the second half of the PDW, participants will receive advice about framing their papers from the editors in a roundtable format. |
