Practitioner-orientated journals include in their mission the ambition to bring management theory in general, and HR research in particular, closer to practice. Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review and Human Resource Management have long been outlets for practitioner-relevant research. Academia is also striving for relevance. The practitioner-oriented journals are more often being “counted” as top-tier peer reviewed publications, relevant for tenure considerations. However, the success rate of publishing in such outlets is very low. Scholars are facing difficulties in explicating the relevance of their findings, illustrating practical impact and telling an interesting story. The proposed PDW aims at encouraging scholars to write for practitioner audiences and share best practices of how to do that. |
