This PDW aims to raise interest towards classic authors/ideas in the field of organization and management theory. It thus offers scholars from all levels the opportunity to reflect on insights of earlier scholarship and their relevance for current research, complementing the strong emphasis (at AOM and beyond) on new ideas and approaches. This is of great importance as our field, albeit relatively young, seems more attentive to disruptions than continuities, novelty instead of tradition. The session will include both expositive and interactive moments. In the first part, senior scholars will talk about Marx, Mary Parker Follett, Mary Douglas, and Albert Hirschman and discuss their contemporary relevance. In the second part, there will be roundtable discussions mediated by speakers. This session requires registration. The presentations from the first part of the event will also be made available via the Talking About Organizations Podcast (https://www.talkingaboutorganizations.com/).
Pre-registration is required for this session. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. The deadline to register online is August 9, 2018.
