Given the success of this PDW over the past ten AOM conferences and the continued interest—with average attendance of around 60 participants each year—we propose to again offer this workshop on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and fuzzy-set (fsQCA) set- theoretic methodologies. The workshop is designed to benefit all scholars: those who have no previous exposure to this methodological approach, those who are first time users, and those with extensive (fs)QCA experience. To accommodate this range of interests, our PDW consists of two parts. Part I is aimed at the beginner and novice participants and provides a general overview of set theoretic methodologies and their conceptual logic, introductions to crisp-set (csQCA) and fuzzy-set (fsQCA) approaches to this method, and a Q&A session that allows attendees to engage an expert panel. Part II serves the needs of participants who are using set theoretic methods in their current research through a small-group roundtable forum that provides participants with the opportuinity to receive detailed feedback and guidance from each other and the PDW organizers regarding their ongoing research projects. Both parts of the PDW fulfill our objective of expanding and deepening the ties of a community of researchers doing set-theoretic analysis across a variety of areas in organizations and strategy research. While registration for Part I of the PDW is not required, those wishing to obtain a list of recommended pre-readings should email Peer Fiss (fiss@marshall.usc.edu). A call for research abstracts for participation in Part II of the PDW will go out in late May 2016.
While Part I of the PDW is open to everyone and registration is not required, those wishing to obtain a list of recommended pre-readings should email Peer Fiss (fiss@marshall.usc.edu). A call for research abstracts for participation in Part II of the PDW will go out in late May 2016.
